1st things 1st - here are some BBQ sauce suggestions......
Use as a marinade for any meat, poultry, fish or even vegetables
On pulled pork, chicken or or beef (loose or as a sandwich)
try it with my Sweet Southern Slaw (recipe below)
It's a "Memphis" thing y'all!
Glaze on grilled or oven baked foods like......
Fish (Salmon, Talapia, Shrimp - especially bacon wrapped shrimp)
Meatloaf (recipe below)
Baked Potatoes (drizzle as a topping)
Pizza (drizzle over any kind of pizza - not just bbq chicken pizza)
|Carla's Black Beans
(serve as a bean dip, in a burrito, fajita or in Carla's Famous Chicken Salads - see recipe below)
Use a canned black beans (drain and rinse)
Put in sauce pan & mash with potato masher
add chopped onion and
Carla's True South BBQ Sauce to taste
Heat & serve
|Carla's Famous BBQ Salads
Can be as an individual or shared salad
In bowl add a base of lettuce of your preference
Add crunched tortilla chips (VERY IMPORTANT)
Drizzle with Carla's True South BBQ Sauce
add Black beans (see recipe above)
Sliced Onions (Green onions are great)
Shredded or chunk chicken, pork or beef (shredded is my preference)
Top with a dollup (or 2) of sour cream
and Black olives
This mixture is a big hit - your mouth will explode with joy!
(add more BBQ sauce as needed)
|Carla's BBQ Tuna or Chicken Melt
Make Tuna salad (any way you like it)
Add a layer of Carla's True South BBQ Sauce
Melt a slice of Swiss or provolone cheese over warmed tuna
& set aside
Toast bread, add a light layer of mayo
Add a layer of BBQ Fritos
(i normally don't like Fritos but this makes a great difference)
Add layer of Carla's True South BBQ Sauce
Put warmed tuna with melted cheese on top
Be ready for your taste buds to be pleasantly suprised!
(An easier version is to place tuna on crackers and top with Carlas True South BBQ Sauce)
(Use as appetizer or meatball sub)
This is the same recipe used at our demos.
Place frozen or fresh meatballs in crockpot
Add Carla's True South BBQ Sauce to cover meatballs
Heat & serve - It's that easy!
|BBQ Crockpot Chicken
(Folks - This is the recipe I use when I do my store demos that you all have loved so much - It's soooo easy!)
Place chicken breasts in oven and bake - Use a little Italian dressing or olove oil with salt & pepper as a marinade to keep outside from drying out
(don't over cook - you'll love it juicy and it will continue cooking in crockpot)
cut chicken into bite size pieces or shred
Place in crockpot and cover with Carla's True South BBQ Sauce
Heat & serve (told you it was easy!)
1 to 2 lbs. ground beef.
1 egg for each pound of ground beef.
4 tablespoon Carlas True South BBQ sauce for each pound of ground beef.
¼ cup minced onion for each pound of ground beef.
1 cup of dry bread crumbs.
Bake @ 350 degrees for about an hour per pound or until juices run clear and it's no longer pink inside. (May need to drain some of the liquid halfway through cooking time.)
(Mashed Potatoes is a must y'all)
Sweet Southern Slaw
(make 2-8 hrs before serving)- serves 8
8 cups very finely chopped cabbage (or 1 head)
1/4 cup very finely shredded carrots (1 medium carrot)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 tbsp white vinegar
2 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
Combine sugar, salt, pepper, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar & lemon juice - beat until smooth
Add carrots & cabbage. Mix Well
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving (overnight is even better)
